Roaches at Richman, my experience with critters at One East Harlem
One East Harlem has its issues but for me, the worst of them is by far the bugs, specifically roaches. Roaches in the trash room. Roaches in my apartment. Roaches by the elevators. Don’t believe me? Just take a look at the photos on this website. The building did try an exterminator, yet the problem only seems to be getting worse. As I was putting a stopper the exterminator suggested on my front door, one tried to walk right in to my apartment. The building has seemingly tried to make me feel like the problem is not as bad as I think it is because the traps put down by their exterminator haven’t caught the critters yet. This is despite both the exterminator and security guard killing them as they pranced around the trash room. And me sending them a photo of one waiting for the elevator.
To be sure, roaches are a fixture in NYC, however it requires a multifaceted approach if a building wants to get rid of them. Notice to all neighbors, getting all paper goods (i.e. paper towels and toilet paper) into sealed bags, removing trash, etc., if you really want to get rid of the issue. If I hadn’t hired my own exterminator to do a study, I wouldn’t have known they could come right through the front door, nevermind that a stopper was needed.
It takes work but this problem could be solved. Unfortunately, the hard work doesn’t seem to have been done - and I fear it won’t be.
